Anyway, that's not what I'm meant to talk about but you do get the picture. It might be a good story on my upcoming environmental blog lol๐๐๐.Lips.... Something that has been overlooked in my daily routine. I never really gave a damn about my lips. I used to be like whatever so long as it performs the obvious function that is to help me eat ๐๐๐crazy ikr. It is until I was hit by the chapped / cracked lips phenomenon. I don't know which is which all I know is that it was a Disaster!!My social life had to take a break๐No smiling, no selfies. I had to have this usual close in your lips in your mouth look or just wear a pullover till below my nose. The shame wasn't something that I was ready to deal with.
Chapped lips isn't comfortable at all. It can be overlooked as something minor but trust me you it isn't fun to deal with. I'm somehow a glutton lol atleast it helped me watch my diet. Chapped lips makes it hard for you to eat as the taste of food is sour and you can't open your mouth wide at times because it also affects the sides of your mouth. The causes of chapped lips include:
- dehydration
- Licking lips
- Use of lip fillers
- Allergies
Those are just but a few causes. The thing that caused my chapped lips was allergy because of the kind of lip product I used. It is something I couldn't let go because I thought the lip colour looked superb on me and I just couldn't imagine having to let go. Chapped lips makes your lips feel super dry and I got in the habit of constantly Licking my lips as a way of moisturising. I was kinda stupid. This is the worst thing you can do as it aggravates the condition.
My lip saver is something that most of you can't imagine. OLIVE OIL. This is a life saver for sure. I had to stop putting on lipstick for a while and just stick to this and voila I was back to normal. Olive oil has many great benefits and the list is just endless. It works great as it keeps your lips moisturised and soft. I also had to increase my water intake and this also worked well.
I learnt that I can't compromise about the kind of cosmetic products I use. The kind of lipstick I used wasn't of good quality and it caused the condition., cheap can be expensive in the long run. I'd rather save and buy something of good quality. That is just my two cents but I honestly think it's true.
Olive oil can be gotten anywhere be it a chemist, supermarket, small shop you name it. The small bottle retails for around Kshs. 70 - 150 depending with the place. The large bottle is somewhere around Kshs.200 - 300.
