BEWARE OF FAKE ST.IVES PRODUCTS

Hey there,

I haven't blogged for some while now till it hit me then the guilt dawns upon me.Why would I start a blog and not keep up πŸ˜•πŸ˜•.There's been alot going on sometimes too much college work,  upside down social life the list is endless but still not a good reason why I shouldn't blog as often....

We live in a world full of fake things... Fake friends, fake smiles,  fake feelings, fake anything you can think of. I don't want to sound emotional or too bitter but it's relatable that way.  Sometime back last month I reunited with an old flame and decided that I'm not letting go. The thing is that my flame has changed and we'll I'm human I appreciate good change. This "ex" of mine is the St.Ives Apricot blemish scrub. This product is just heaven sent. It's more like a jar of Nutella.

I found the scrub at home and definitely what belongs to your parents is by extension yours πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚This is an unwritten rule that most of us know. I'm not going to discuss about the wonders of this ex of mine but about the insane world we live in and how I got duped.

In Nairobi all things are possible. Young,  bright innovators are taking over. I won't even beat around the bush we all know about "river Road ".Perhaps the name suggests a flowing river and in that case flowing products.I had gone to buy hair products because it's the best place to buy hair products at really discounted prices. You actually save more than half than what you would have spent in a shop uptown where prices are slightly exaggerated for no good reason.

I regularly shop here for hair products and I'm grateful that I was able to find out a convenient place. As I was leaving this particular day I saw someone like my "ex" and this time I couldn't hold back. I asked the attendant about the price it was just Kshs. 200 and that was the highlight of the day. I was so excited knowing that supermarkets and uptown cosmetic shops are just overpriced for others and being the economist that I am this was surely good news.

However,  it is said that when the deal is too good think twice right? I got home and the first thing was to use the scrub since I had waited all day for this moment. The devil truly works in mysterious ways. First,  the screw cap came off and I just thought maybe I was too rough. Secondly,  the product itself. I lacked words...I had literally been duped and I can't believe I easily believed. I don't even need to explain because the images below say it all. A picture is worth a 1000 words.
This is a sample of a fake St.Ives price. I had to buy from a trusted shop and yes it was worth it.Sometimes, being a student and the cost factor makes us overlook alot of things. The original St.Ives can be gotten from supermarkets. It retails for around 670-1000 depending with the retail shop you're getting from.I got mine at 675 at tuskys chap chap.

The images below will show a clear distinction and I hope it will help other shoppers.
The real St.Ives looks like:

The pointers that can enable you distinguish are clearly labelled below

1.The St.Ives "mountain " label.
2. The Apricot images show a clear contrast.
3.The number of grams differ greatly.

4.The date of manufacture and expiry is located on the real St.Ives while the fake one lacks this feature.

Conclusion

I felt like it's wise to share this with you so that you may not fall victim to such scams.Who knows what the product contains?  It might cause a serious problem or irritation as it's not genuine. Lastly,  in order to get something of good quality we need to sacrifice. So don't consider price as an issue if something is genuine it has to be worth it.

Wishing you all a lovely day and watch out for my next posts and I'll try to be more consistent.

  1. Thanks for writing this. I have been suspecting that there are St.Ives fakes circulating the market here in the Philippines as well. Glad you pointed out the differences between the legit and the fake ones. Very helpful info. Thanks! :)
