EXFOLIATION ESSENTIALS TWO : DUDU OSUN SOAP

DUDU OSUN SOAP

Strange, weird and crazy were some of the remarks in my head when I first heard about this soap. Little did I know ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎthat this would be my " shining armour " lol๐Ÿ˜œ.
Choosing the right soap for your skin type is often quite a difficult process.  I have oily skin so this is a bit too hard to find the right thing to use. it's just a series of trial and error and trust me you I think I'm the ultimate tester of soaps ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚not in a good way though it's called desperation. I'm happy that I did that because I wouldn't have learnt what I know now.

I first of all tried to keep it simple and "normal" with ordinary bar soap the "Jamaa, ushindi,  panga,  menengai you name it. basically all the laundry soaps that you can think of and are available in Kenya.
I later on learnt that it's not good to use ordinary washing soap for your Face as it contains harmful ingredients that strip of off your skins moisture. The only thing that it should be used for is washing clothes and no compromise about it๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ It dried out my skin and we'll developed some rash that's why I stopped uing them. Something else that I learnt is that never ever use perfumed soap or bathing soap for your Face not unless it is mild.
I came to learn about dudu osun because of ... well the obvious Google!!!The fact that I'm a skin junkie and during those Internet sessions I came across it through some blogs and review sites such as amazon and makeup alley. The reviews were 90% positive and yes I had to take my chances.
I had to get the soap and this is my experience....

The soap looks" African" that was my first impression about it. The colour combination and there's just something about it that makes it appear African,  though I don't know what it is ๐Ÿ˜‚...but I hope you get my point.

Company's description about the product

The description is found at the back of the box. It contains a list of ingredients of the soap and it's use. The fact that all ingredients are Natural is an A for me ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘

My experience

You have to brace yourselves up for this. That's how the actual black soap appears. It's not pitch black as the name indicates it's a bit of a black - brown color mix. To be honest at first the soap doesn't look that appealing but then patience..... It has an earthy smell more like when it rains the smell from the earth is what I can liken it to.I think this is one of the best products I have used so far.
Actually,  it is the BEST I have come across. The fact that I use makeup daily makes it come in handy. I don't even think I would want to purchase a makeup remover so long as I have this. I just use it like normal soap as though I am washing my hands. It thoroughly cleanses and leaves no dirt completely. I use it twice or thrice depending with the day. Honestly speaking , it has  been working well for me. Since I started using it , my breakouts cleared completely and at least my face has stayed clear. It is not a wonder product that will just work like va va voom ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ.It takes patience. I had to wait for one month and I am happy about. It's a good exfoliate especially if you are under acne medication as it will help the medicated treatments to work better. I don't know if I have the right words to describe this product but all I can say is Simplicity and efficiency.
It is also used as a prep for skin lightening. I know this is a sensitive subject but it's because of the fact that it exfoliates really well therefore lighteners penetrate easily.
In Kenya the soap can be got through online shops but I found the price to be a bit too high. Ebrahims supermarket has this soap and it retails for Kshs.400. I get mine from mother of cosmetics what a name ikr๐Ÿ˜‚Anyway,  it's at sasa mall and it retails for Kshs.350.

To all those on a natural hair journey or maintenance, this soap is also used as a shampoo and for I don't know which hair cleansing routines but that's because of sneak pics that I see on YouTube. I have relaxed hair that doesn't grow and I've learnt to accept that๐Ÿ˜‚but that's a story for another day...

Lesson learnt: Never judge a book by it's cover.
