REAL VS FAKE DUDU OSUN

Dudu Osun is a soap that doesn't need any introduction. It is slowly becoming a must have beauty product for almost everyone and the craze about it is just insane.Black soap has been the IT product for any skin ailments and I can attest to that. This soap cleared my skin and I'm just grateful to say the least. However ,off late there's been alot of imitations well if people can re-brand Kylie cosmetics what about dudu osun that's just from here lol. There has been alot of fake dudu osun circulating around and it's because demand is greater than supply. It is because of this that I took a break from using this soap as I tried and it gave me a rash so I was left wondering is this really the dudu osun that I knew.It was more like a what happened to "bae"situation.I must say river road has been such a blessing in regenerating products I'm always left amazed.
After taking time and well alot of research I found out how one can be able to differentiate between the real and fake so as to help many of us not fall victim because I was surprised I wasn't the only one affected and that's thanks to Kilimani mums ,glam life and tricia's naturals. Most people raising issues about the soap and everyone insisting about the "original".
The adverse effects of the fake dudu osun have been :

  • Breakouts
  • Rashes
  • Dry skin
  • Flaky skin
  • Itchy skin just to name but a few.....

Some of the pointers that can help you are :

  • The fake dudu osun has a mild smell not like the "earthy smell " that's like the original.
  • The fake has a really dark colour let's say pitch black while the original is brown.
  • The fake soap crumbles really easily and doesn't last for long.
  • The official dudu osun web page displayed a disclaimer on how to distinguish and help people access the original.

If anyone knows where to get the original dudu osun please comment blow. Some stores that I know in Kenya left with the genuine soap include : Sheth naturals and Maryfaith vutale's shop hamilton building wabera street.

HAIRLINE AND GROWTH RESTORATION

This will be a slight deviation from what I normally post about.Sometime back I was thinking through and trying to figure out all this natural hair craze out of nowhere.I then realized if I'm working towards taking care of my skin why should I leave my hair out.It should be uniform all through.I'm going to give a brief history about my hair.I relaxed it way back  in 2014.I really did not have much interest in my hair just regular braiding ,weaving ,dye and relaxing. That was pretty much the cycle.
Last month I had a strong conviction that it's high time I had healthy hair.My hairline was slowly saying goodbye and the major thing my hair volume.I felt that my relaxed hair was really light and given that I have a small face I tend to prefer bulky or puffy hairstyles.I made a decision to do the big chop rather than transition.I'm not really sure if I should say it was the big chop because I had my relaxed hair cut off then remained with the growth which is now the mane I'm working on.
There is a lot of information out there about natural hair may leave you confused as hell.Different products high end - Cantu ,Shea moisture and the likes  to the low end  homemade avocado oil ,hot treatments and the likes .Different regimens the was ,co-wash leaving you in a dilemma. So I joined a very helpful group Tricia's naturals Kenya it's a closed group on Facebook and provides a lot of tips you can surely learn but I'll talk about that some other day.
I had to find out what my hair type 4B or is it 4C.I'll counter check. On a light note Kenyans can you relate to the form thiry four bae haha😂😂😂my hair is four bae lol .
The article is on hairline and volume growth. The products I've chosen to help me achieve this after much consultation include:

JAMAICAN BLACK CASTOR OIL

The crave about this product is just phenomenal. The before after pictures. The blog reviews and
youtube reviews are just epic .So I joined the bandwagon.I got my JBCO from mother of cosmetics at Kshs.1200.The benefits of castor oil include :
Strengthen and thicken eyebrows and lashes
Retain hair pigment
It gives your hair a darker and richer hue. Its ability of retaining needed moisture helps increase dark colour of your hair as well.
It helps to get rid of split ends
This oil contains many nutrients including vitamin E, omega-6 fatty acids, and other essential amino acids that can help treat and prevent split ends.
Treats dandruff and promotes healthy scalp
This is because the oil has anti fungal and antibacterial properties, it can fight pathogens and microorganisms, which cause the infection.
Hair growth
It contains ricinoleic acid content that helps promote blood circulating to the follicles, which will speed up the growing process to give you longer and thicker hair.
I use the castor oil twice daily and I also apply on my eyebrows I'm tired of drawing the Nike logo everyday 😂😂😂.

COCONUT OIL

This product has been the holy grail since time immemorial. There are varied options  you can choose to use virgin coconut oil or processed. The benefits of coconut oil include
Lice prevention and treatment
Dandruff treatment .
 Moisturizes dry hair.
Adds luster, shine and softness to the hair.
Prevents hair breakage and split ends, contributing to hair length.
Slows down hair loss.

The kentaste coconut oil retails at Kshs.465 currently but price varies according to size .The tropical coconut oil is mostly Kshs.100 an available in all retail stores.

OLIVE OIL

This is another product that is key if you want healthy hair.It is in two forms extra virgin which is basically in it's pure form and the processed olive oil .That is the best way I can try to explain. The benefits of olive oil include :
Helps to deal with dandruff
Softens the hair
Promotes hair growth
Relieves scalp itchiness

The extra virgin olive oil retails at around Kshs.400 while the ideal olive oil is Kshs.70 but the price varies according to size.

These are my starter pack products. The major thing is consistency.Find what works for your hair and do not overload your hair with products. This is what I'm considering in order to have healthy and voluminous hair and according to me  length  is not really a priority now..

INNO PEEL REVIEW

How many times do we have to try in order to fulfil something even though it's not working out? This is the question that has been lingering on my mind for the past few days. When you have a problem but the solution seems far fetched.Dealing with pigmentation has been a struggle and a deep one.If you don't face something you will never really know what it feels like.
It changes your personality and social life. You become introverted and just don't have that outgoing persona but people don't really understand ,anyway that's a story for another day.
If I was taking a skin care degree I swear I'd have a PhD by now .The amount of time invested and research is just unexplainable. So this led me to something called Chemical Peel. It's a way of dealing with pigmentation.I really got tired of creams and having to wait I just had to find a way out. This inno peel had been recommended by my dermatologist a awhile back but I wasn't ready financially. The peel was to cost Kshs.8000 and being a student this was a bit on the upper side.So I opted out at that time .Luck was on my side and I got the money. In my head I was like is it really worth it ?What if it doesn't help at all?All that money down the drain it may not be alot but it is something .
I thought of  a cheaper way to get the peel like buying it on Amazon via vitu mob but it wasn't available because it's available only to professional aesthetians so my hopes were dim.I tried to get a pharmacist to create a peel for me and the salicylic acid one for 1850 but it kept haunting me that I should just follow the doctor's advice.
I'll have to fast forward so that this post doesn't become too long.My appointment was at 10:45 but being an African timer and this Nairobi traffic I got to the clinic at 11:40 and the doctor was about to leave but thank goodness.I was really happy because there was no one in the clinic.Atleast I wasn't going to get those wandering "eyes" from people.Let's just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful this clinic is and gives you that confidence that you are at the fight place .The interior and colour combination is just lovely.
I had a somewhat lengthy talk with the doctor literally pouring my heart out.I'm pleased she was very helpful and understanding that gave me a go ahead .Thereafter, she assured me that this was the best peel to deal with pigmentation. She later instructed her assistant to proceed and perform the peel
.I was taken to another room to have the peel done.I must say the place was just amazing to say the least.

The Inno Aesthetics company has various types of peels offered and to be specific I had the Inno exfo lightening peel. It's also called whitening or yellow peel. The active ingredients are :
Vitamin A 3%, Salicylic Acid 10%, Phytic Acid 0.5%, Arbutin 4%, Kojic Acid 5%.
Below is an image of the product and a brief description from various sources.

I'm guessing to make it easy to follow the whole process , I'll write up an article of my post peel as from day one .
This time I'm literally praying that it will work effectively even if it may not be 100% a 50+1 improvement will be good for me.

ZINC AND CASTOR CREAM

This article is related to my last article , the "wish list-one " and thank goodness I turned that to reality. In pursuit of my flawless goals I bought the zinc and Castor cream.I didn't actually get the exact brand the "bells" but I'm happy that I got something similar just a different brand. The zinc and Castor  cream that I got is from health point. This is a UK brand. I purchased this item in a last minute rush in some chemist in town.
